Holotype (unique): NMW 77684. •Valid as Barbus kessleri (Steindachner 1866) -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:258 [ref. 6186]). •Valid as Enteromius kessleri (Steindachner 1866) -- (Yang et al. 2015:112 [ref. 33694], Hayes & Armbruster 2017:353 [ref. 35417], Skelton 2019:232 [ref. 36564], Fermon et al. 2022:140 [ref. 39448] with question). Current status: Valid as Enteromius kessleri (Steindachner 1866). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Angola, and central Congo River basin (Democratic Republic of Congo). Habitat: freshwater.
