Unnecessary replacement name for Barilius intermedius Boulenger 1915, preoccupied by Barbus intermedius Rüppell 1835. The B was misinterpreted for Barbus instead of Barilius -- (see Van Steenberge et al. 2014:333 [ref. 33291]). •Valid as Barbus luapulae Fowler 1958 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:262 [ref. 6186]). •Objective synonym of Barilius intermediatus (Boulenger 1915) now placed in Raiamus -- (Van Steenberge et al. 2014:333 [ref. 33291]).
