Holotype: ANSP 74760. Paratypes: ANSP 74761 (6), 74762 (1, stained), 74763-69 (2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 51). Current status: Valid as Acanthemblemaria chaplini Böhlke 1957. Chaenopsidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: east coast of Florida (u.S.A.) and Bahamas south to Panama, including Caribbean Sea. IUCN (2014): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
