riverosi, Blennius Fowler [H. W.] 1951:317, Fig. 45 [Revista Chilena de Historia Natural (Santiago) v. 51-53 (1947-1949); ref. 12694] Coquimbo, Chile and ConcepciĆ³n, Chile. Syntypes: (5, Coquimbo), BMNH 1917.7.14.58-59 (2, Concepcion). Proposed as a new name for Blennechis fasciatus Jenyns 1841 and for Blennechis ornatus Jenyns 1841, the former preoccupied by Blennius fasciatus Bloch 1786 and the latter by Blennius ornatus Swainson 1839. The code does not address the simultaneous replacement of two preoccupied names with one new name; so Fowler's species stands on its own, with the types of both Jenyns' species as its syntypes. •Synonym of Hypsoblennius sordidus (Bennett 1828) -- (Springer 1967:462 [ref. 30243], Bath 1996:91 [ref. 22687]). Replacement Name. Current status: Synonym of Hypsoblennius sordidus (Bennett 1828). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Habitat: marine.
