atratus, Callogobius Griffin [L. T.] 1933:176, Pl. 25 (bottom) [Transactions of the New Zealand Institute v. 63 (pt 2); ref. 1906] Cable Bay, Mangonui County, New Zealand, in rock pools. Holotype: AIM PS.286.1 now MA 430. Paratypes: AIM MA 431 (2), AMS I.4890 (1). Type catalog: Koumans 1940:167-168 [ref. 2676]. Trnski personal communication (12/1/2017) on type status. •Valid as Gobiopsis atrata (Griffin 1933) -- (Paulin et al. 1989:225 [ref. 24556], Paulin & Roberts 1992:52 [ref. 24625], Willis et al. 1999:189 [ref. 24629], Shibukawa 2010:97 [ref. 30809], Larson 2011:238, 239 [ref. 31740], Hoese 2015:1580 [ref. 34304], Parenti 2021:173 [ref. 38603], Delventhal & Mooi 2023:461 [ref. 40434] possibly in another genus). Current status: Valid as Gobiopsis atrata (Griffin 1933). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: New Zealand endemic. Habitat: marine.
