Paralectotypes: BMNH 1867.5.3.1 (1), 1899.3.2.6 (1); MNHN 1898-0124 [ex BMNH] (1). Lectotype apparently selected first by Lamboj 1998:146 [ref. 24135]. •Synonym of Chromidotilapia guntheri (Sauvage 1882), but a valid subspecies -- (Lamboj 2000:71 [ref. 25026]). •Valid as Chromidotilapia kingsleyae Boulenger 1898 -- (Daget 1991:49 [ref. 20947], Lamboj 1999:154 [ref. 24135], Lamboj 2002:254 [ref. 26537], Lamboj 2002:72 [ref. 29294], Lamboj 2003:6 [ref. 27429], Stiassny et al. 2007:311 [ref. 30045]). Current status: Valid as Chromidotilapia kingsleyae Boulenger 1898. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: West-central Africa: Gabon. Habitat: freshwater.
