Syntypes: BMNH 1863.12.21.5 (left and right half skins in spirit). •Valid as Rhamphochromis longiceps (Günther 1864) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:312 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:423 [ref. 20944], Turner et al. 2004:201 [ref. 28114], Konings 2016:311 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Rhamphochromis longiceps (Günther 1864). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi and upper Shiré River. Habitat: freshwater.
