Holotype: USNM 207718. Paratypes: MCZ 48848 (1); USNM 109430 (3), 207719 (18, 15 c&s), 207720 (1 c&s), 207721-22 (1, 2). •Valid as Epigonus oligolepis Mayer 1974 -- (Abramov 1992:20 [ref. 21251], Gon 2003:1394 [ref. 27085], McEachran & Fechhelm 2005:240 [ref. 28815], Okamoto & Motomura 2011:155 [ref. 31269], Okamoto 2012:242 [ref. 32096], Okamoto & Motomura 2012:84 [ref. 32144], Okamoto & Motomura 2013:7 [ref. 32772], Lins Oliveira et al. 2015:158 [ref. 37485]). Current status: Valid as Epigonus oligolepis Mayer 1974. Epigonidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Florida (U.S.A.) south to Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine.
