Holotype: MNHN 1976-0121. Paratypes: 2 observed but not saved. Type catalog: Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:59 [ref. 12478]. •Valid as Apogon catalai Fourmanoir 1973 -- (Fraser 2006:140 [ref. 28665]). •Valid as Jaydia catalai (Fourmanoir 1973) -- (Fricke et al. 2011:390 [ref. 31242], Mabuchi et al. 2014:202 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:170 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Jaydia catalai (Fourmanoir 1973). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: Chesterfield Islands; Grande Terre (New Caledonia). Habitat: marine.
