limandoides, Pleuronectes Bloch [M. E.] 1787:24, Pl. 186 [Naturgeschichte der ausländischen Fische v. 3; ref. 468] Eastern North Atlantic. Lectotype: whereabouts unknown. On p. 18 of Bloch's Ichthyologie, v. 6 [ref. 21381]. Gmelin's (1789:1232) use of this name refers to Bloch's account, even though Bloch is not cited. Lectotype selected by Fricke 1999:50 [ref. 24101] as the [specimen illustrated in] Pl. 186 in the original description [specimen not in existence]. This subspecies is known from the e. North Atlantic. •Synonym of Hippoglossoides platessoides (Fabricius 1780), but a valid subspecies limandoides (Bloch 1787) -- (Nielsen 1973:624 [ref. 6885], Sakamoto 1984:208 [ref. 5273], Nielsen in Whitehead et al. 1986:1301 [ref. 13677], Amaoka in Okamura et al. 1995:222 [ref. 22531], Fricke 1999:50 [ref. 24101], Evseenko 2003:S62 [ref. 28535], Evseenko 2004:6 [ref. 27606], Parin et al. 2014:532 [ref. 33547]). Current status: Synonym of Hippoglossoides platessoides (Fabricius 1780). Pleuronectidae: Pleuronectinae. Habitat: marine.
