Holotype: USNM 57820 (poor condition). Paratypes: CAS-SU 20012 (1), USNM 61162 (2, poor condition). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:8 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Eptatretus deani (Evermann & Goldsborough 1907) -- (Eschmeyer & Herald 1983:10 [ref. 9277], Wisner & McMillan 1990:793 [ref. 19195], McAllister 1990:25 [ref. 14674], Fernholm 1998:34 [ref. 23976], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:55 [ref. 25968], Nelson et al. 2004:47 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:1 [ref. 37547], Knapp et al. 2011:404 [ref. 37507], Page et al. 2013:47 [ref. 32708], Angulo & Del Moral-Flores 2016:101 [ref. 34472], Kells et al. 2016:60 [ref. 35888], Burton & Lea 2019:26 [ref. 37205]). Current status: Valid as Eptatretus deani (Evermann & Goldsborough 1907). Myxinidae: Eptatretinae. Distribution: Northern and eastern Pacific: northeastern Alaska (U.S.A.) south to Guadalupe Island (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
