Fish Commission v. 17 (art. 2) [1897]; ref. 14683] Mouth of small creek flowing into Pelican Bay, arm of upper Klamath Lake, Klamath County, Oregon, U.S.A. Holotype: USNM 48225. Paratypes: CAS-SU 5704 (missing); USNM 48231 (orig. 49, now 39), 125012 [ex USFC 451] (38). Type catalog: Gilbert 1998:99-100 [ref. 23395]. •Synonym of Rhinichthys osculus (Girard 1856), but a valid subspecies klamathensis (Evermann & Meek 1898) -- (Gilbert 1998:99-100 [ref. 23395], Moyle 2002:161 [ref. 26449], Scharpf 2005:39 [ref. 28940]). •Valid as Rhinichthys klamathensis (Evermann & Meek 1898) -- (Moyle et al. 2023:525 [ref. 40044]). Current status: Valid as Rhinichthys klamathensis (Evermann & Meek 1898). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: North America: Klamath, Warner and Sacramento watersheds, Oregan and California, U.S.A. Habitat: freshwater.
