Holotype: MNHN or MOM (not found in 1995). Originally as tåningi. Apparently not technically preoccupied by Lampanyctus taaningi Parr 1929, Serpa freta Whitley 1936 is an unneeded replacement. •Synonym of Lampanyctus macropterus (Brauer 1904) -- (Paxton 1979:13 [ref. 6440]). Current status: Synonym of Lampanyctus macropterus (Brauer 1904). Myctophidae: Lampanyctinae. Habitat: marine.
