C (Zoologie) (Sér. 1) v. 3 (fasc. 5); ref. 1043] Mukishi River at Lumami, Congo River basin, Democratic Republic of Congo (8°30'S, 24°44'E). Syntypes: MRAC 30807-08 (2). Type catalog: Derijst 1991:62 [ref. 21528]. •Synonym of Petrocephalus catostoma (Günther 1866), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Gosse 1984:111 [ref. 6169], Lavoué et al. 2010:44 [ref. 30944]). •Valid as Petrocephalus congicus David & Poll 1937 -- (Kramer et al. 2012:2232, 2235 [ref. 32160], Lovoué 2012:2167 [ref. 32189], Stiassny et al. 2021:1686 [ref. 39000] as cf. congicus). Current status: Valid as Petrocephalus congicus David & Poll 1937. Mormyridae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Congo River basin. Habitat: freshwater.
