Lectotype selected by Kottelat & Chu 1988:79 [ref. 13392]. •Valid as Nemacheilus brevis Boulenger 1893 -- (Menon 1987:181 [ref. 14149] as Noemacheilus, Talwar & Jhingran 1991:473 [ref. 20764]). •Valid as Yunnanilus brevis (Boulenger 1893) -- (Kottelat 1990:239 [ref. 14137], Doi 1997:18 [ref. 22832], An et al. 2009:632 [ref. 30709], Chen et al. 2012:61 [ref. 31907]). •Valid as Petruichthys brevis (Boulenger 1893) -- (Kottelat 2012:102 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:203 [ref. 32989], Kano et al. 2016:9 [ref. 34887], Du et al. 2021:4 [ref. 38600] as Ptruichthys b., Fuke et al. 2021:[3] [ref. 38221]). Current status: Valid as Petruichthys brevis (Boulenger 1893). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: South Asia: middle Salween River basin, Myanmar. Habitat: freshwater.
