oxygnathus, Nemachilus Regan [C. T.] 1908:357 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 8) v. 2 (no. 10); ref. 14350] Yunnan Fu, China. Lectotype: BMNH 1908.2.27.23. Paralectotype: BMNH 1908.2.27.24 (1). Original genus is correctly Nemacheilus. Yang et al. 1994:62 [ref. 28152] mention a lectotype for this species, but evidently no lectotype was designated; they mention syntypes on p. 60. Lectotype selected as BMNH 1908.2.27-24 by Bǎnǎrescu & Nalbant 1974, which is 1908.2.27.23. •Synonym of Paracobitis variegatus (Dabry de Thiersant 1874) -- (Zhu 1989:32 [ref. 17744], Wu & Wu 1992:140 [ref. 21205], Yang & Chen 1994:59 [ref. 28152], Chen & Zhang in Chen 1998:49 [ref. 23556]). •Synonym of Homatula variegata (Dabry de Thiersant 1874) -- (Bănărescu & Nalbant 1995:444 [ref. 23187], Kottelat 2012:84 [ref. 32367], Zhang et al. 2019:364 [ref. 36699]). •Valid as Homatula oxygnathus (Regan 1908) -- (Liu et al. 2022:[9] [ref. 39342] as oxygnathra). Current status: Valid as Homatula oxygnathus (Regan 1908). Nemacheilidae. Distribution: East Asia: upper Yangtze River basin, China. Habitat: freshwater.
