Paratypes: ANSP 39321-22 (1, 1), 39323 (missing). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:19 [ref. 13621]. •Synonym of Leporinus pellegrini Steindachner 1910 -- (Johannes 1999:15 [ref. 24121]). •Valid as Leporinus paralternus Fowler 1914 -- (Garavello & Britski in Reis et al. 2003:77 [ref. 27061]). •Synonym of Leporinus maculatus Müller & Troschel 1844 -- (Géry et al. 1988:704 [ref. 27759], Mol et al. 2012:287 [ref. 32867]). Current status: Synonym of Leporinus maculatus Müller & Troschel 1844. Anostomidae. Distribution: Guyana and Suriname rivers and upper Amazon River basin: Brazil and Guyana (if valid). Habitat: freshwater.
