Type catalog: Gilbert 1998:156 [ref. 23395]. •Synonym of Rhinichthys osculus (Girard 1856), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Kaya et al. 1992 [ref. 19893], Gilbert 1998:156 [ref. 23395], Scharpf 2005:39 [ref. 28940], Page & Burr 2011:206 [ref. 31215]). Current status: Synonym of Rhinichthys osculus (Girard 1856). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: Wyoming, U.S.A. [subspecies thermalis]. Habitat: freshwater.
