Subjectively invalid; secondarily preoccupied in Notropis by Argyreus rubripinnis Heckel 1843; replaced by Notropis garmani Jordan 1885. Fricke 2005:32 [ref. 29864] suggests the name is available as the homonymy no longer exists.
