Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:60 [ref. 7042], Gilbert 1998:111 [ref. 23395]. •Synonym of Notropis formosus (Girard 1856) -- (Gilbert 1978:60 [ref. 7042], Chernoff & Miller 1982:519 [ref. 8493]). •Synonym of Cyprinella formosa (Girard 1856) -- (Mayden 1989:55 [ref. 12555], Gilbert 1998:111 [ref. 23395], Minckley & Marsh 2009:120 [ref. 31114]). •Synonym of Cyprinella formosa (Girard 1856), but a valid subspecies -- (Scharpf 2005:13 [ref. 28940]).
