Holotype: ZSI F 12478/1. Paratypes: ZSI F12478/1 (9). Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:116 [ref. 20743]. See Das 2003:354 [ref. 27706]. •Synonym of Puntius sarana (Hamilton 1822), subspecies orphoides (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:282 [ref. 20764]). •Synonym of Barbodes sarana (Hamilton 1822) subspecies orphoides (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Menon 1999:70 [ref. 24904]). •Synonym of Puntius sarana (Hamilton 1822). •Synonym of Systomus sarana (Hamilton 1822) based on placement of sarana. •Valid as Systomus binduchitra (Hora 1937) -- (Kottelat 2013:165 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Systomus binduchitra (Hora 1937). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Myanmar. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
