Holotype (unique): CAS 61680 [ex IU 15025]. Also appeared at same time in Eigenmann 1922:165 [ref. 12408]. Spelling y-ophorus apparently is not to be emended. •Valid as Leporinus y-ophorus Eigenmann 1922 -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:12 [ref. 9708] as yophorus, Taphorn 1992:54 [ref. 23654] as yophorus, Johannes 1999:15 [ref. 24121], Géry 1999:105 [ref. 24139], Garavello & Britski in Reis et al. 2003:79 [ref. 27061] as yophorus, Sarmiento et al. 2014:183 [ref. 35004], Britski & Birindelli 2016:39 [ref. 34393] as yophorus, Burns et al. 2017:21 [ref. 35416] as yophorus, DoNascimiento et al. 2017:40 [ref. 35633], Urbano-Bonilla et al. 2018:84 [ref. 35773], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:15 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Leporinus y-ophorus Eigenmann 1922. Anostomidae. Distribution: South America: Meta and Orinoco River basins (Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
