Holotype: SIO 65-643. Paratypes: CAS 49125 (2); MNHNC P.6383 (1); SIO 65-643 (2); USNM 227441 (2). Type catalog: Meléndez C. et al. 1993:6 [ref. 24124]. Original as laurahubbsi but named after a woman so corrected to laurahubbsae. •Valid as Eptatretus laurahubbsae McMillan & Wisner 1984 -- (Wisner & McMillan 1988:232 [ref. 6335], Pequeño 1989:5 [ref. 14125], Fernholm 1991:117 [ref. 20219], Fernholm 1998:34 [ref. 23976], McMillan 1999:110 [ref. 23612], Mincarone & Stewart 2006:225 [ref. 28682], Fernholm & Mincarone 2010:1002 [ref. 30998], Knapp et al. 2011:404 [ref. 37507]). Current status: Valid as Eptatretus laurahubbsae McMillan & Wisner 1984. Myxinidae: Eptatretinae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific: Juan Fernández Islands (Chile). Habitat: marine.
