Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:72 [ref. 12367], Ferraris & Vari 1992:41 [ref. 19771], Ferraris 2007:415 [ref. 29155] Appeared first without distinguishing features in Eigenmann 1910:400 [ref. 1224]. Fernández 2000:28 [ref. 26195] stated that no type was designated in the original description, but the type is listed as MCZ 29313 in the original. •Valid as Trichomycterus barbouri (Eigenmann 1911) -- (Burgess 1989:321 [ref. 12860], Fernández 2000:28 [ref. 26195], Miquelarena & Fernández 2000:44 [ref. 27633], de Pinna & Wosiacki in Reis et al. 2003:280 [ref. 27061], López et al. 2003:39 [ref. 27366], Menni 2004:82 [ref. 28131], Fernández & Chuquihuamaní 2007:55 [ref. 29320], Ferraris 2007:415 [ref. 29155], Sarmiento et al. 2014:193 [ref. 35004], Mirande & Koerber 2015:37 [ref. 35117], García-Melo et al. 2016:237 [ref. 34471]). Current status: Valid as Trichomycterus barbouri (Eigenmann 1911). Trichomycteridae: Trichomycterinae. Distribution: Amazon River basin (Bolivia), la Plata River basin (Argentina) and Beni River basin (Bolivia): Argentina and Bolivia. Habitat: freshwater.
