Current status: Valid as Ambassis agassizii Steindachner 1867. Ambassidae. Distribution: Southern and eastern Australia: Murray-Darling River system of South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales; coastal areas of southern Queensland and northern New South Wales. Habitat: freshwater.
