Type catalog: Smith-Vaniz et al. 1979:40 [ref. 12247]. Apparently described independently of Scomber saliens Bloch 1793, but based on the same source. Illustrated on Pl. 19 (fig. 2) of v. 2, 1800 [ref. 2709], but with vernacular name. Based on 'Pelamis minima, vulgo sauteur' in manuscript by Plumier (Charles Plumier, 1646-1704, French explorer and botanist). Also appeared in Sonnini 1803:387, 392 (vol. 7) [ref. 30473]. •Synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793) -- (Smith-Vaniz & Staiger 1973:218 [ref. 7106]). Current status: Synonym of Oligoplites saliens (Bloch 1793). Carangidae: Scomberoidinae. Habitat: brackish, marine.
