Holotype (unique): MNHN A-5385 (poor condition). Type catalog: Bauchot 1970:32 [ref. 20740]. Combined with a neuter genus, the adjective should be carolinum. •Valid as Pteraclis carolinum Valenciennes 1833 [often seen as carolinus] -- (Mead 1972:107 [ref. 6976], Mead 1973:388 [ref. 7199], Haedrich in Whitehead et al. 1986:849 [ref. 13676], Gomes 1990:761 [ref. 18692], Thompson 2003:1472 [ref. 27088], Menezes & Figueiredo in Menezes et al. 2003:82 [ref. 27192], Carvalho-Filho et al. 2009:24 [ref. 30553], Smith-Vaniz & Collette 2013:173 [ref. 32953], González-Lorenzo et al. 2014:297 [ref. 33191], Haedrich in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:2518 [ref. 34618], Carneiro et al. 2019:259 [ref. 37250], Sutton et al. 2020:273 [ref. 37832] as carolinus).
