Type catalog: Menon & Yazdani 1968:133 [ref. 20743] as holotype, Whitehead & Talwar 1976:159 [ref. 23762]. •Valid as Dinoperca petersi (Day 1875) -- (Heemstra & Hecht 1986:1 [ref. 5971], Heemstra 1986:571 [ref. 5660], Randall 1995:139 [ref. 22896], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S104 [ref. 27377], Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:194 [ref. 28072], Psomadakis et al. 2015:194 [ref. 34104], Jawad et al. 2018:103 [ref. 36262], Parenti 2019:187 [ref. 37021], Heemstra 2022:283 [ref. 39773]). Current status: Valid as Dinoperca petersi (Day 1875). Dinopercidae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya) east to Pakistan. Habitat: marine.
