Holotype: USNM 70255. Paratypes: USNM 147373 (2), 147375 (1). •Synonym of Epigonus occidentalis Goode & Bean 1896 -- (Mayer 1974:170 [ref. 6007]). •Synonym of Epigonus atherinoides (Gilbert 1905) -- (Mochizuki & Shirakihara 1983:202 [ref. 8302]). •Valid as Epigonus megalops (Smith & Radcliffe 1912) -- (Okamoto 2016:178 [ref. 34930], Fricke 2017:119 [ref. 35535]). Current status: Valid as Epigonus megalops (Smith & Radcliffe 1912). Epigonidae. Distribution: Philippines. Habitat: marine.
