Current status: Valid as Cheilodipterus heptazona Bleeker 1849. Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Christmas Island (Indian Ocean) and Indonesia east to Papua New Guinea, south to northern Australia. Habitat: marine.
