crouvina, Johnius Castelnau [F. L.] 1855:11, Pl. 5 (fig. 1) [Animaux nouveaux or rares v. 2; ref. 766] Rio Crixas, and affluent of Rio Araguay, Brazil. Syntypes: MNHN 0000-7503 (1). MNHN 7503 regarded as holotype in Paris records and in Chao 1978:44 [ref. 6983], but original description lists several specimens, so there are potential syntypes. •Synonym of Plagioscion squamosissimus (Heckel 1840) -- (Chao 1978:44 [ref. 6983] as courvina, Casatti in Reis et al. 2003:601 [ref. 27061], Casatti 2005:42 [ref. 28401], Mirande & Koerber 2015:55 [ref. 35117], Parenti 2020:44 [ref. 37439]). Current status: Synonym of Plagioscion squamosissimus (Heckel 1840). Sciaenidae. Habitat: freshwater.
