wittei, Microchirus Chabanaud [P.] 1950:7 [Bulletin de l'Institut Royal des Sciences Naturelles de Belgique v. 26 (no. 55); ref. 801] 21 miles west of Point Dandé, 8°30'S, 12°58'30"E, depth 190-230 meters. Lectotype: IRSNB 408. Paralectotypes: IRSNB 409-414 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1); MNHN 1951-0017 (1); MRAC 140343-46 (1, 1, 1, 1), 140347-48 (2), 140349-50 (1, 1); non-types IRSNB 415 (2). Type catalog: Desoutter et al. 2001:321-322 [ref. 25922]. In list of materials for other species, Chabanaud recorded "Localité du holotype" but for wittei he did not, but evidently IRSNB 408 was intended holotype; Lectotype selected by Desoutter 1994:223 [ref. 22326]. •Valid as Microchirus wittei Chabanaud 1950 -- (Desoutter 1990:1043 [ref. 18967], Desoutter 1994:223 [ref. 22326], Desoutter-Meniger & Munroe in Carpenter & De Angelis 2016:3021 [ref. 34618], Carneiro et al. 2019:194 [ref. 37250], Fermon et al. 2022:233 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Microchirus wittei Chabanaud 1950. Soleidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania south to northern Angola, including Madeira. Habitat: marine.
