Lectotype selected by Greenwood 1973:146 [ref. 7566]. •Valid as Haplochromis elegans Trewavas 1933 -- (Greenwood 1973:145 [ref. 7566], van Oijen et al. 1991:122 [ref. 20956]). Current status: Valid as Haplochromis elegans Trewavas 1933. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lakes Edward and George and the Kazinga Channel. Habitat: freshwater.
