Syntypes: BMNH 1921.9.6.193-194 (2). •Valid as Taeniolethrinops praeorbitalis (Regan 1922) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:261 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:468 [ref. 20944], Ngatunga & Snoeks 2004:256 [ref. 28115], Konings 2016:384 [ref. 34521]). Current status: Valid as Taeniolethrinops praeorbitalis (Regan 1922). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
