A.] 1914:254, Pl. 7 (fig. 1) [Wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse der Deutschen Zentral-Afrika Expedition, 1907-1908 v. 5 (Zool. no. 3); ref. 582] Lake Edward, eastern Africa. Lectotype: ZMB 19110. Paralectotypes: (31) BMNH 1914.4.8.9-12 (4); ZMB 19111 (2), 22689 (8), 22691 (1), 22692 (1 or 2), 22693 (7), 22695-97 (1, 1, 1), 38016 (1). Other specimen: BMNH 1914.4.8.37 (1, skeleton). Lectotype selected by Greenwood 1973:200 [ref. 7566]. Some of the paralectotypes belong to other species, see Vranken et al. 2023:[8] [ref. 40198]. •Valid as Haplochromis pappenheimi (Boulenger 1914) -- (Greenwood 1973:199 [ref. 7566], van Oijen et al. 1991:157 [ref. 20956], Vranken et al. 2023:[8] [ref. 40198]). Current status: Valid as Haplochromis pappenheimi (Boulenger 1914). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Central Africa: Lake Edward. Habitat: freshwater.
