Based on description in manuscript by Forster (Johann Reinhold Forster, 1729-1798, German explorer and naturalist of Cook's second voyage). •Valid as Harpagifer bispinis (Forster 1801) -- (Regan 1916:378 [ref. 40111], Pequeño 1989:65 [ref. 14125], Hureau 1990:359 [ref. 21698], Lloris & Rucabado 1991:95 [ref. 22530], Lloris R. et al. 1996:52 [ref. 23539], López et al. 1996:45 [ref. 23681], Pequeño 1999:172 [ref. 24566], Eastman & Eakin 2000:16 [ref. 24631], Balushkin 2000:S97 [ref. 29555], Prirodina 2002:731 [ref. 26573], López et al. 2002:66 [ref. 26808], Eastman & Eakin 2021:[3] [ref. 38307], Chiaramonte et al. 2023:211 [ref. 40423]). Current status: Valid as Harpagifer bispinis (Forster 1801). Harpagiferidae: Harpagiferinae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific, southwestern Atlantic. Habitat: marine.
