nigripinnis, Pseudoscarus Günther [A.] in Playfair & Günther 1867:105, Pl. 15 (fig. 2) [The fishes of Zanzibar; ref. 3490] Zanzibar, Tanzania, western Indian Ocean. Holotype: BMNH 1867.3.9.328 (right half skin). Paratypes: BMNH 1865.2.27.80 (1), 1866.1.19.16 (1), 1867.3.9.355 (1 left half skin). Described from BMNH 1876.3.9.328, which makes this the holotype, paratype (in spirit) figured. •Synonym of Cetoscarus bicolor (Rüppell 1829) -- (Randall & Bruce 1983:6 [ref. 5412], Choat & Randall 1986:195 [ref. 8099], Parenti & Randall 2000:52 [ref. 24943]). •Synonym of Cetoscarus ocellatus (Valenciennes 1840) -- (Randall 2022:268 [ref. 39936]). Current status: Synonym of Cetoscarus ocellatus (Valenciennes 1840). Labridae. Habitat: marine.
