tumifrons, Amphacanthus Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1835:159 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 10; ref. 1004] Shark Bay, Western Australia; Thailand (drawing by Dr. Finlayson). Syntypes: MNHN 0000-2949 (1) Shark Bay, MNHN A-6936 (1) Shark Bay. Type catalog: Bauchot 1965:574 [ref. 19223]. Types represent two species according to Woodland 1990:36, 59 [ref. 19220], with MNHN A-6936 representing Siganus spinus (Linnaeus 1758) and perhaps involving a curatorial error. •Valid as Siganus tumifrons (Valenciennes 1835) -- (Kuiter & Debelius 2001:149 [ref. 26232]). •Synonym of Siganus fuscescens (Houttuyn 1782) [in part] -- (Allen et al. 2006:1725 [ref. 29090], Kottelat 2013:440 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Siganus spinus (Linnaeus 1758) [in part] -- (Allen et al. 2006:1726 [ref. 29090]). Current status: Synonym of Siganus fuscescens (Houttuyn 1782). Siganidae. Habitat: marine.
