Lectotype: ZMUC P6689 (dry skin). Paralectotypes: ZMUC P6690 (dry skin). Originally Scarus siganus; rivulatus; regarded as an alternate name for Scarus [= Siganus] rivulatus Forsskål 1775; later spelled sigana and sigan. Not available from this combination as the author of p. 25 (Fabricius) did not decide how to name the species, rivulatus or siganus (see Fricke 2008:54 [ref. 30182]). Name made available by Bonnaterre 1788:94 [ref. 4940] (see Fricke 2008:54 [ref. 30182]). Lectotype selected by Klausewitz & Nielsen 1965:13 [ref. 20847]; lectotype figured in Klausewitz & Nielsen 1965: Pl. 2 [ref. 20847].
