Syntypes: MCZ 28638-42 (2, 1, 1, 2, 1); USNM 57872 (1). •Questionably valid as Holcomycteronus digittatus Garman 1899 -- (Nielsen & Cohen 1986:348 [ref. 5700]). •Valid as Holcomycteronus digittatus Garman 1899 -- (Cohen & Nielsen 1978:32 [ref. 881], Nielsen 1980:18 [ref. 6926], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:68 [ref. 24448], Anderson & Stein 2006:3 [ref. 28595], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:198 [ref. 28944], Nielsen et al. 2008:48 [ref. 29625], Nielsen & Møller 2011:786 [ref. 31147], Love et al. 2021:82 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:108 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Holcomycteronus digittatus Garman 1899. Ophidiidae: Neobythitinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Colombia. Habitat: marine.
