Type catalog: Fernholm & Wheeler 1983:238-240 [ref. 20707]. Fernholm & Wheeler 1983:238-240 [ref. 20707] pointed out that the sources for the species description in 1758 were referable to Serranus; Fernholm & Wheeler suggest synonymizing P. marina with P. scriba Linnaeus 1758. NRM 442 is the type of scriba. See Sebastes marinus Linnaeus. •In the synonymy of Serranus scriba (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Parenti & Randall 2020:127 [ref. 37354]).
