lastoviza, Trigla Bonnaterre [J. P.] (ex Brünnich) 1788:147 [Tableau encyclopédique et méthodique des trois règnes de la nature... Ichthyologie; ref. 4940] [Spalato] Split, Croatia, Adriatic Sea (Mediterranean Sea). No types known. Based on Trigla sp., with common name "lastoviza" in Brünnich 1768:99 [ref. 17290]; validly published by Bonnaterre. Note that Cuculus lineatus Pennant 1769 predates lastoviza, and if they are the same then this needs further investigation. Neotype designated by Fricke 1999:38 [ref. 24101], but withdrawn in Fricke 2000:639 [ref. 24537]. •Valid [author as Brünnich] as Chelidonichthys lastoviza (Richards 1968:86 [ref. 7911], Richards & Saksena 1990:681 [ref. 17757]). •Valid [authorship as Brünnich 1788] as Trigloporus lastoviza -- (Blanc & Hureau 1973:590 [ref. 7218], Richards & Saksena 1980:156 [ref. 23143], Heemstra 1982:293 [ref. 5416], Hureau in Whitehead et al. 1986:1237 [ref. 13677], Santos et al. 1997:79 [ref. 23531], Arruda 1997:117 [ref. 24952], Caputo & Sorice 1999:81 [ref. 25260], Fricke 1999:38 [ref. 24101], Golani 2005:34 [ref. 37112] dated 1768). •Valid as Trigloporus lastoviza (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Bilecenoğlu et al. 2002:72 [ref. 26753], Lipej & Dulčić 2010:40 [ref. 36649], Elbaraasi et al. 2019:96 [ref. 36864]). •Valid as Chelidonichthys lastoviza (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Fricke et al. 2007:77 [ref. 29533], Richards 2016:2305 [ref. 35044], Martins & Carneiro 2018:115 [ref. 36550], Artüz & Fricke 2019:555 [ref. 36612], Carneiro et al. 2019:234 [ref. 37250], Reiner 2019:161 [ref. 38139], Bariche & Fricke 2020:109 [ref. 37515], Kovačić et al. 2020:44 [ref. 37519], Bañón & Maño 2021:69 [ref. 38883], Golani 2021:37 [ref. 38303], Kovačić et al. 2021:83 [ref. 39014], Fermon et al. 2022:293 [ref. 39448]). Current status: Valid as Chelidonichthys lastoviza (Bonnaterre 1788). Triglidae: Triglinae. Distribution: Mediterranean Sea; Sea of Marmara; eastern Atlantic: Norway south to Gabon, including Azores (Portugal), Madeira (Portugal), Canary Islands (Spain), and São Tomé and Principe. Habitat: marine.
