Lectotype selected by Fraser-Brunner 1950:966 [ref. 12950]. •Valid as Carnegiella strigata (Günther 1864) -- (Weitzman 1960:231 [ref. 9611], Ortega & Vari 1986:10 [ref. 9708], Planquette et al. 1996:188 [ref. 22818], Weitzman & Palmer in Reis et al. 2003:101 [ref. 27061], Mirande 2010:470 [ref. 31006], Barriga Salazar 2014:106 [ref. 35745], Sarmiento et al. 2014:74, 186 [ref. 35004], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:62 [ref. 35633], Careaga et al. 2020:76 [ref. 37774], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:15 [ref. 39298]). Current status: Valid as Carnegiella strigata (Günther 1864). Gasteropelecidae. Distribution: South America: Amazon and Orinoco river basins (Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Guyana, Peru and Suriname). Habitat: freshwater.
