Current status: Valid as Gnatholepis ophthalmotaenia (Bleeker 1854). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Cocos-Keeling Islands east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, north to Kagoshima Prefecture (southern Lapan), south to Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. Habitat: marine.
