Current status: Valid as Pseudogobius melanosticta (Day 1876). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: India east to Vanuatu, north to Ryukyu Islands (Japan), south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Habitat: brackish.
