Syntypes: BMNH 1930.9.4.13-14 [ex MCZ] (2); MCZ 28541-42 (3, 4); USNM [ex MCZ 28542] (1). •Valid as Monolene maculipinna Garman 1899 -- (Bussing & López S. 1994:152 [ref. 23101], Hensley in Fischer et al. 1995:936 [ref. 22829], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:202 [ref. 24555], Evseenko 1999:628 [ref. 24408], Amaoka & Imamura 2000:247 [ref. 24802], Hoshino et al. 2000:293 [ref. 24805], Nelson et al. 2004:179 [ref. 27807] with author and date as Norman 1933, McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:195 [ref. 30957], Page et al. 2013:187 [ref. 32708], Robertson et al. 2017:105 [ref. 35676]). Current status: Valid as Monolene maculipinna Garman 1899. Bothidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Nicaragua to Peru, including Galápagos Islands. Habitat: marine.
