Paralectotypes: BMNH 1906.9.6.34-35 (2) Kalambo, 1906.9.6.36 (1) Usambura. Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:155 [ref. 29155]. Lectotype may have been inadvertently designated by Risch (1986) -- see Ferraris 2007:155 [ref. 29155]. Chrysichthys brachynema has priority over C. myriodon (Ferraris 2007:155 [ref. 29155]). •Valid as Chrysichthys brachynema Boulenger 1900 -- (Bailey & Stewart 1984:6 [ref. 5232], Risch 1986:15 [ref. 6190], Burgess 1989:67 [ref. 12860], Ferraris 2007:155 [ref. 29155], Hardman 2008:43 [ref. 29542]). Current status: Valid as Chrysichthys brachynema Boulenger 1900. Claroteidae. Distribution: Lake Tanganyika, eastern Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
