Syntypes: BMNH 1909.10.19.26-27 (2). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:23 [ref. 29155]. •Synonym of Amphilius uranoscopus (Pfeffer 1889) -- (Skelton & Teugels 1986:59 [ref. 6192] as kreffti, Seegers 1996:192 [ref. 23725] as kreffti, Ferraris 2007:23 [ref. 29155]). •Valid as Amphilius krefftii Bouenger 1811-- (Thomson & Page 2010:58 [ref. 30999]). Current status: Valid as Amphilius krefftii Boulenger 1911. Amphiliidae: Amphiliinae. Distribution: Tsavo River system of the Galana River basin, Kenya; Sigi and Pangani River basins, and Lake Jipe basin, Tanzania. Habitat: freshwater.
