Bleeker specimens: BMNH 1862.2.28.122. •Synonym of Halichoeres melanurus (Bleeker 1851) -- (Parenti & Randall 2000:22 [ref. 24943], Parenti & Randall 2011:34 [ref. 31299], Parenti & Randall 2018:23 [ref. 35964]). •Valid as Platyglossus chrysotaenia (Bleeker 1853) -- (Kuiter 2010:272 [ref. 35285]). •Valid as Halichoeres chrysotaenia (Bleeker 1853) -- (Allen & Adrim 2003:49 [ref. 26830], Kuiter 2010:254 [ref. 35285], Allen & Erdmann 2012:670 [ref. 31980], Motomura in Motomura et al. 2021:54 [ref. 38121]). Current status: Valid as Halichoeres chrysotaenia (Bleeker 1853). Labridae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Maldives and Sri Lanka east to Myanmar, Thailand, Sumatra and Java (Indonesia). Habitat: marine.
