Type catalog: Whitehead & Talwar 1976:161 [ref. 23762]. Reasons for loss of ZSI type specimens during WWII see Chopra 1947:349-350 [ref. 33077]. •Synonym of Ophiocara ophicephalus (Valenciennes 1837) -- (Kottelat 2013:395 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Ophiocara porocephala (Valenciennes 1837) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:980 [ref. 20764], Keith & Mennesson 2021:102 [ref. 38375]). •Synonym of Ophiocara porocephalum (Valenciennes 1837) -- (Parenti 2021:24 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Synonym of Ophiocara porocephalum (Valenciennes 1837). Eleotridae: Butinae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
